Life is crazy, isn't it?
The other night I had a bite to eat with some friends at a local diner. My chicken cutlet sandwich with fries and a diet coke cost about 11 dollars including tax and tip. No big deal.

The next day there's an article in the Times about folks in the textile industry in Central America losing their jobs because the work is being moved to China. The salary for the job losers was five dollars a day. Those five bucks have to feed a few kids.

We don't think much of the $$$ we spend. It's hard to imagine folks having to feed families on such little loose change.

DID YOU notice the story of some ten days ago. There's this woman being held hostage by a guy accused in courthouse killings in Atlanta. She turned him on to a best seller book "The Purpose-Driven Life" by some pastor named Rick Warren, and afer a whle the perpetrator relaxed and he released the woman and surrendered peaceable to police.

How nice.

Oh that such a book would be allowed in the pubic schools, you know, in the 'hood. But don't tell that the the American ClueLess Liberatarian Schmucks. There's a limit to their concept of civil liberties.

There was a nearly full page ad in the Times February 22 paid by something called 'smokefreemovies.ucsf.edu'.
It complains that Hollywood is pushing tobacco around the world.

Interesting.

With all the sex dominating our entertainment media, one wonders why no one seems to consider the effects this has on America's image in the rest of the world, where women and men not only do not expose their breasts, they keep most of the body covered, often even their faces.

Speaking of exposures the NY Daily News this week had a series on the effects of
MTV which reached 164 million households from Kansas to Kenya to Kazakhstan.

What kind of an effect do these exposed bosoms have on frustrated types around the world who use their faiths as an excuse to foster terrorism

It's not just foreigners who are under cultural attack. There's one American book out now "Your Children are Under Attack" by psychologist Dr. Jim Taylor. He says this pop culture is ours teaches unhealthy values and becomes a guiding forces in youngster's lives. (NYDN 3/16/5)

Oh, well, life goes on, but don't you think we should start talking about how we should deal with life isssues which overwhelm us?

What do you think?
